Penn Battle 2 vs Conflict

Initially, we were going to review the Penn Conflict, all its features, specifications, pros, and cons. The idea was to give you an insight to this spinning reel that would be useful if you’re looking to buy one.

But, since the Penn Battle two is just as famous, we’ve decided to compare one to another instead of just reviewing the Conflict one. A comparing review shows us how the Conflict matches up with its features and specifications to the very popular Penn Battle 2.

Conflict

Model & Sizes

The Conflict spinning reel comes in sizes between 1000 and 8000 with an in-between version of 2500. It’s made for off-shore action since it covers light freshwater the best. The sizes it comes in are:
• Small – 5.2:1
• Medium – 6.2:1
• Biggest – 5.6:1 and 5.3:1

Its max drag is 9-30, and it weighs about 19.0oz. The Conflict is made out of metal, allowing you precise gear alignment above all. All sizes come in black color only and have 7+1 bearings.

The size range, as well as the preciseness that we’ve mentioned above, make the spinning reel one of the most popular models on today’s market.

Features

Versions between 1000 to 4000 have a reinforced graphite rotor. All sizes between 5000 and 8000 have an aluminum rotor. This eliminates all previous problems with drag pressure and torque. Plus, sizes above 5000 have a rotor brake.

It’s also important to mention that all rotors are Techno-Balanced for balanced and smooth retrieve each time.

The spinning reel is made entirely out of metal featuring line capacity rings and a braid-ready superliner spool.

Its bearings are all sealed stainless steel. The reel also has an Infinite Anti-Reverse bearing on top of that.

Engineered to perform quickly and efficiently, the Conflict is excellent for all kinds of fishing regardless of the fish you’re targeting. It’s because the combination of these features works in line to create a smooth and seamless performance.

Battle 2

Model and sizes

The open face Penn Battle 2 reel has 8 dimensions. Their lightest model is the size 1000 which is the best size for freshwater. There’s also the 2500 size that comes between the Battle sizes 2000 and 4000. These are all medium-high gear ratio that begins with 5.2:1 and ending with 6.2:1.

These ratios mean that the reel is best for all kinds of finesse application such as catching bass for example. Also, it handles inshore fish quite quickly. For a bass angler, the ratio in the range of 6.0:1 would probably work the best.

Each version has max drag from 9 to 30. Also, sizes weight about 8oz for the lightest one, and 30oz for the largest size.

Features:

It’s important to note that this model is corrosion resistant. Its paint job is at the level that protects the reel from all chemicals that used to cause trouble with previous models.

The Penn Battle 2 features five ball bearings. However, this time they are all sealed stainless steel. This is what provides the durability in saltwater since it prevents water intrusion.

The reel has more significant drag pressure thanks to their popular system that are the HT-100 drag washers. This feature allows you to increase max drag by 20% and use both sides of washers. You may think you won’t need this much drag, but it’s good to know it’s there nonetheless.

Another great thing features on this spinning real are the line capacity rings. More and more manufacturers opt to feature this, and for a reason. It’s what tells us how much line is left on the reel. We don’t have to mention how important this is when you’re fishing for whatever big fish or if you’re at a dead stop.

The reel is made entirely out of metal, with the rotor and bail wire that is durable and reliable. This is especially useful to all people who fish in saltwater since it means it will last a long time.
